I have no idea why Epson doesn't update its software and instead they keep shipping it with this annoying glitch, but if you want to fix it go ahead and download EPSON Scan Common Updater v1.00+ from here: Turns out Epson has fixed this two years ago! How come didn't I know about this before?įor some strange reason, they haven't had the time to add this patch to the software, so you have to download a different file and install it after you have EPSON Scan working on your computer. I didn't want to mislead anyone though, so I checked if that information was accurate before sending my reply. I typed my response: "yes, it happens to me as well, and there's nothing you can do about it". This morning, I got an email asking about this. I wasted so much time because I forgot about moving the damn cursor! I'd expect to see all my images ready after a few minutes, only to find that just one had been scanned. You'd have to repeat this for every image on your filmstrip. The only way to make the scanner go back to work would be to focus on the app, and move the cursor. But an email asking about it reminded me of the bug that was still there: the scanner would stop between images when you are scanning a batch of multiple photographs. I need the scanner to work on my desktop Mac Mini.I hadn't even noticed it when I started using my new Epson v550, because I was used to it back when I had the v600. In any case, Image Capture does not require the driver anyway, as I discovered for the first time ever (so ignorant!) by plugging the scanner into my Macbook Pro which does not have any Epson drivers on it. Doing a Finder Search does not show any other Epson names.
I spent an hour or more with Epson call center in Philippines, finally uninstalling everything. In Printers and Scanners Prefs, the scanner is listed correctly as a V39.
From here, click on Network, then click on Add. Clicking on the Utility tab in the printer settings window and selecting Driver Update. You can also manually update the software by: Accessing the Windows Desktop, right-clicking the product icon in the Windows taskbar, then clicking Software Update. But now the V39 shows up inside Image Capture as Epson V600 and it refuses to preview or scan. If it is your Epson Scanner that is not working, click on the Start button, locate the Epson folder, open the folder and select Epson Scan Settings. Windows: Your printer software automatically checks for updates. Recently the Epson software for updating drivers popped into action and told me to update the software. Image Capture has wrong scanner model showing I am using High Sierra OS, Image Capture and a basic Epson V39 scanner.
